There are three basic categories of coffee machine or coffee mug: bean-to cup, pod and stand coffee machines. Which of them you decide just has the largest effect on what coffee you will be able to use. Beyond that, certain features like froth-spout or milk Frother will also affect what you are able to make and how difficult it is to make your favorite drink. Another thing to consider when thinking about buying a coffee machine is how much manual labor you are willing to spend getting it ready every morning. Manual tasks can add up to considerable labor, depending on what task you are doing to prepare your coffee.
A Bean-To Cup machine uses pre-ground beans in a paper or plastic container, which is placed inside a warming plate. The temperature needs to be between 150 and 160 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure even heating. When the machine is ready to start brewing, the lid of the container needs to be lifted and placed inside the machine. The lid should stay in place until the machine has brewed the required amount of coffee for your coffee mug or cup.
Pod coffee machines make use of pre-packaged coffee pods. Once the pod has been inserted, it is pushed back through the filter. As it passes through the filter, it is heated, which releases the coffee into the mug or cup. This is different from a drip machine as the water is always fully poured into the mug or cup before being heated. Therefore, these machines require more attention when it comes to brewing but usually yield a better cup of coffee.
